Find your favourite beer at the best sports bar in Mississauga!

Who loves beer and chicken wings? Well, I most certainly do! So grab some friends and try out some new beers at your favourite sports bar! Well, I have a great story for you guys! Even has a little moral behind it!

So, me and 4 other buddies head down to Boston Pizza, next to square one. It’s a sports bar near me and it is known as a local bar and a restaurant. We order some drinks, my friend asks, “man what do you want to drink, it’s on me”. I laughed and said, “I don’t know, surprise me”.  He then came back with a beer for me. He handed me a Molson Canadian Light. I had never tried the Molson Canadian Light and I assumed it tasted horrible, light beer? Like C’mon! So, I had a sip and I was amazed! It tasted so good and the fact I am a healthy individual who keeps track of my calories, this wasn’t so bad! I thanked my buddy and we had a great time drinking beers and having chicken wings! What else could a man ask for! So, the little moral of the story I have for you folks is, try new things, you only live once and make the most of it!

What is your favourite local bar and why? 

Le Castile Steak Restaurant

What can I say? I succumbed to my base instincts. We usually try to talk about restaurants that offer hip, or cool selections at prices affordable by your average student (read: cheap). Le Castile is none of that. It’s a steakhouse.

As a self-appointed expert on the quality of steak, I shall now list for you offerings that could potentially be better at the housing of steak than Le Castile:

5.      Maybe Chris Ruth’s?

Okay fine, I’m no more qualified to judge the best steak in town than a vegetarian, but this was really good. Really, it was. Seriously. Did you read my list?

The most important thing to note from this whole exercise is that this place wasn’t cheap, and by that I mean it was expensive. Very expensive. You probably want to ditch the jeans for a pair of nice slacks too (yeah, it’s that kind of place), but for all the hardship and financial losses you get a fantastic steak. That makes it all worth it.

I get the feeling that I may have just accidentally opened the floor up to a debate on the best steak in the city, so I may as well do it officially. What’s the best steakhouse in the city? Let me know!

Love burgers? Look no further for the best fast food at Five Guys!

 Okay everyone, gather ‘round because it’s story time. I’m always down for trying new fast food places, especially when they have the renown of Five Guys. When I heard one was opening up by where my sister goes to school, I knew I had to stop in and try it. I wasn’t disappointed.

A quick word of advice; at Five Guys a ‘small’ is what most people would consider a ‘regular’. If you walk in and simply order a burger, it’ll have two patties. Order a small to get one patty, you’ve been warned. Anyways, back to the fun! Once your order is all prepared they do something I can really only describe as magical, they pour fries as a ‘topper’ over the entirety of your wrapped up burgers and fries to keep them warm. Magical wasn’t too strong a word was it? I sat down to eat and found the best tactic to tackle this behemoth amount of food before me was to just rip the bag open and start eating my way to the food I ordered. Another word of advice might be to only go to Five Guys if you’re REALLY hungry. To summarize though, the burger was good, the fries were great (albeit numerous), and there were free refills and peanuts!

I myself have been looking to eat at an amazing Italian restaurant and had been told to visit Alioli Ristorante.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of having pizza all the time, when Italian foods come to mind one immediately thinks of a pizza restaurant. I had been told to visit Alioli Ristorante and I thought it was pretty good! But, I did not order anything special, just went with the normal, pasta. I want you guys to comment and tell me what other exciting Italian dishes are out there, that I do not know about or have tried because to be honest, I’ve only tried a few Italian dishes.

Is there any Italian recipes you have ever tried making yourself?

Sizzloz- The Portuguese restaurant that brings you a taste of Europe

What if I told you, there is more to what you see! I will tell you how there are more food options in fancy restaurants than what you see on the menu!

Sizzloz is a great restaurant; it has gotten great restaurant reviews as it has a 4.1/5 on Google reviews. For those who do not know what Sizzloz is, Sizzloz is a fancy restaurant that offers Portuguese food. With their specialty chicken platters and burgers they make with authentic Portuguese recipes it has to be one of my favourite restaurants of all time! Funny story, my friend actually introduced me to this restaurant and got me hooked.

We were coming back from school and saw this restaurant on the way back. We went in and the prices were quite high, so my friend asked, “Do you have any student specials”? The employee replied, “Yes, we do” This wasn’t on their menu but the special included a drink, fries and a chicken sandwich for just $6.77. Long story short, a great tip I would recommend is asking questions; as they say “The customer is always right”

Regal Palace has the best Chinese restaurant menu in town!

Protip: If you go to a Chinese restaurant that has a dim sum menu, ignore the regular Chinese food menu and go straight for that. Trust me.

For those of you confused and unaware of what’s going on, dim sum is a series of smaller dishes, usually ordered from a card at the table, where you get to try a collection of small-portioned fresh made foods that make up a meal. If you’ve been to a Chinese buffet, it’s a bit similar except they bring the food to you and it’s generally better (how great is this sounding?). Little dumplings, rice wrapped in a lotus leaf, steamed meats covered in amazing sauces, these are the things you should expect from a dim sum menu. So why am I letting you all in on this secret? I was recently at Regal Palace and noticed people ordering off the regular lunch menu (wrong) and came here to tell you all the benefits of ordering from the dim sum menu (right).

Burrito Boyz- The definition of Great Mexican Food

Want some Mexican food? But you’re in a hurry? No problem because there is Burrito Boyz! 

Burrito Boyz a Mexican restaurant near me and I do tend to go there quite often. This is because of my love for Mexican dishes, how quick the food is prepared and most importantly because I do not know any Mexican food recipes. It is very convenient for me to go in and make an order at Burrito Boyz and I like the fact it is how I want it made.
 With great toppings, sauces and meats, it really just hits the spot. I would give this restaurant a 5/5. 

With it’s excellent service, food, convenience and authenticity.

Mississauga’s best Italian restaurant by a landslide!

Wondering where you can get the best and most authentic Italian food?

Scaddabush was not my first pick of Italian restaurants. But after endlessly searching for an Italian restaurant that would be up to my Italian boyfriend’s standards, I was desperate to try something that would satisfy his picky taste buds.

From the moment we entered to the second we left, it was the best experience at a restaurant that we have had in a long time!

We shared the fresh mozzarella as an appetizer, which is made fresh daily and it was refreshingly unique from other appetizers at the restaurants we typically go to. It was just the mozzarella cheese with sides of bread and crackers to eat the cheese with. It was fancy and delicious.

I had the Baked Carbonara, while he enjoyed the Arrabiatta. Of course, we both tried each other’s Italian dish and both were equally fantastic.

I can tell you first hand, Scaddabush is a true Italian restaurant. If my boyfriend, the food critic approves, it must be amazing.

Bar Burrito Fresh Mexican Grill

You know, people are always asking me ‘Matthew! What is the best Mexican restaurant around here?’ and until recently I’ve really struggled to find an answer to that. However, my struggles have ended since I found Bar Burrito. 

Bar Burrito has a selection of the classic Mexican food many of us have come to love after long nights of... studying. Burritos, tacos, and quesadillas make up the brunt of their menu but the real devil is always in the details. Maybe you want your burrito with no meat at all? What about fish? Pulled pork? In a bowl instead of a tortilla? How about a soy taco? Really anything goes at this place, but best of all its all fresh and it’s all delicious. 

Let’s put my ranting to an end for now as I pose it to you, that’s right, you there reading this now, what’s the best Mexican restaurant you know of? Let me know in the comments! 

Wang’s Kitchen- One of the best Chinese restaurants

Top 3 Reasons Why I think Wang’s Kitchen is one of the best Chinese restaurants! 

1) It is a Chinese restaurant near me! Who doesn’t love just walking down the street to have some food you are craving!

2) It has the best Chinese food menu, some of the best starters such as lollypop chicken and dumplings, also the best main courses such as the sweet and sour chicken and spicy chicken (my favourite) and who can forget about the desserts? As Wang’s Kitchen offers fried ice cream!

3) Wang’s Kitchen is one of the greatest Chinese foods restaurants I have ever gone to! With their amazing food, service and atmosphere

What are your favourite Chinese restaurants and what do you like most about them? 

You’ll find your favourite Portuguese recipes at Silva’s Barbeque!

What is it that makes you guys think of home the most? For me it has to be food. Great, home cooked food always seems to do the trick. Is it a bit strange that the Portuguese recipes at Silva’s Barbeque makes me think of home despite the fact that I’m not Portuguese? Maybe. All these questions will be answered, I assure you.

Silva’s Barbeque isn’t a traditional Portuguese restaurant in the sense that it’s all take-out. That doesn’t really matter though, because what feels more like being at home then… being at home? It feels especially sweet when the food you have is good, making Silva’s Barbeque a wonderful place. Known mostly for their barbequed chicken, the rest of their menu could easily be described as ‘Italian but spicier’, with a good selection of pastas and sides familiar to any foodie. Most importantly though, they offer ‘family packs’ of varying sizes, my favourite of which consists of one of their fantastic barbequed chickens, small potatoes, small rice and a medium salad. I usually just walk in, grab one of those and head back to my favourite fancy restaurant; my living room. 

For those of you out there like me, what foods make you feel most at home?

Visit local bar – Fionn MacCools for a fun night out!

I might have spoiled this review in the title. Don’t look at it. You’re all looking at it now aren’t you? Damn. Anyways, I’ve been checking out a few local bars recently and found Fionn MacCools to be well worth writing about!

Fionn MacCools is an Irish pub that offers live music, great food, and focuses on CRAFT BEERS. Yeah, I was excited too. I feel like I got a really perfected version of what a pubs’ supposed to be at Fionn MacCools, the atmosphere was open and warm, the craft beers were delicious, and the live music provided a great soundtrack to it all. A fun night out indeed. Now to put a score to it all (that’s usually involved in a review right?). I give Fionn MacCools 9 empty pint glasses out of 10, it’s easily in the top 3 best local bars I’ve been to.  Everyone has that local place to meet up with friends and spend a few hours drinking and laughing the night away. What’s yours? I want to hear bar stories people!

Tips for Getting the Most out of Your Eating Experience at Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill

Sometimes you just don’t get the night out that you wanted. That’s why we’ve created some tips to have the best time at Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill.

Jack Astor’s caters to the younger crowd which means the peak time is 7-8 P.M. If you want to get in without a wait, leave early! Best time we have found is around 6 P.M.

The absolute best and most delicious part about this kitchen bar is its’ garlic pan bread. Bread made with oil, garlic and cheese – Can you say YUM?

Go on game night. There is no shortages of T.V’s at Jack Astor’s; making it one of the best sports bars around.

Instead of going on a pub crawl, simply just go to Jack Astor’s with your friends. The tables accommodate larger groups simply looking for a fun night out!

Order the “Jacked Up” Blue Raspberry Lemonade. Raspberry vodka, blue liquor and sprite topped with a lemon. Drinks never tasted so good. Go get one today!

As a local bar, Jack Astor’s provides amazing food & drinks and a cool atmosphere! You can’t get any better!

You won’t be Disappointed with the Italian Dishes at Rogues Restaurant!

Wow. I was under the impression there weren’t any authentic Italian restaurants near me but I think after visiting Rogues Restaurant I couldn’t have been any more wrong.
 
Authentic can be hard to describe. Maybe this will help all of you realize how truly authentic this place is; I could barely pronounce anything on the menu, which is a shame really because the descriptions of it sounded so good.

A few wisps of barely held together Latin wording later and Italian dishes started to pour out of the kitchen. Prepare yourselves for a bit of the dramatic, but this was the best Italian food I’ve ever had. One day I’m thinking there’s no good Italian restaurants near me, the next I’m leaving my favourite Italian meal. Crazy.

I’m sure some of you out there have had a similar experience. Tell me about a time where you found great food right in your neighbourhood that you didn’t realize was there the whole time. I’ll look forward to hearing about your cool discoveries!

Texas Longhorn – The prime steakhouse in Mississauga!

 Texas Longhorn probably wouldn’t be your first choice for a steak dinner.

Typically when I hear “Steak restaurant”, I automatically think of The Keg or any restaurant that only offers steak. I know that when I first walked in to Texas Longhorn, the words “prime steakhouse” didn’t come to my mind.

But let me be the first to tell you Texas Longhorn had the best steak that I have ever had! And yes – it beats The Keg!

They have 7 different types of steak dinners – one of them being a whopping 72 ounces!

Perhaps the thing that I was most delighted about was the fact that their menu did not only consist of meat, meat and more meat. They had options like quesadillas, chicken wings and fajitas!

This not only makes it a great steak house, but a fantastic restaurant that has a little something for everyone.

What is Mississauga’s Greatest Chinese Buffet?

When it comes to Chinese buffets, we think we’ve got a handle on which one takes the crown!

The Mandarin is probably the most popular and well-known Chinese restaurant in the GTA.

There’s a reason for that.

Mandarin offers a large Chinese food menu, with more traditional Canadian food options that most other Chinese restaurant menus do not include.

Another interesting aspect is the two different rooms it has – the aquarium room, and the bird room.

But let’s get down to it -the food. To die for! Sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls and the famous fortune cookies! There is a salad bar & soup bar and the buffet is always stocked. Leaving all the possible options available to you!

Perhaps the best part about Mandarin is the desserts. Come on, a buffet of desserts – how much better can it get? Sundaes, cakes, pies, and cookies!

Who doesn’t love great Mexican dishes?

Nachos, burritos, tacos, and hot sauce - and these are just some of the awesome Mexican food items.

One of my personal favourite Mexican food restaurants is Mucho Burrito. It’s so good that it inspired me to create my own Mexican food recipes at home!

Best Steak in Mississauga- Hands down it’s Zorro’s Steakhouse

 
 A question I was asked today; Do you know any steak houses around here?

My friend named Ammar asked me this wonderful question. He had asked me if there were any fine dining steak houses in Mississauga. I replied with a “yes” and then he carried on and asked me which one is the best. That is a very difficult question, as there are many steak houses.

But in my opinion the best steak in Mississauga is offered at Zorro’s Steakhouse! I just feel that it has a great atmosphere and the steak is just mouth-watering!
